Amazon and Flipkart have long enjoyed an excellent duopoly, benefiting from India’s flourishing e-commerce industry, and their efforts to attract both buyers and sellers remain ongoing.
However, in a space that is already saturated and competitive, a new and emerging player called ONDC is struggling to carve a niche for itself.
ONDC is an interoperable network built on the Beckn protocol, which aims to dismantle barriers to digital commerce by facilitating seamless connectivity and operations among platforms of different sizes (big or small). The protocol also serves as the backbone for other initiatives, including UPI for transactions and Namma Yatri for transportation.
