This week, OpenAI opened its first office in Tokyo, unveiling a Japanese-optimised GPT-4 model to boost creativity and productivity. It also partnered with leading businesses and local governments to transform the industry and public services.

“I’m glad to see more AI in Japan,” said Llion Jones, the co-founder of Tokyo-based Sakana AI, and one of the authors of Google’s 2017 research paper ‘Attention Is All You Need’.
