Stop Comparing AI with A-Bomb

Earlier today, Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated biopic, "Oppenheimer," starring Cillian Murphy in the lead role, released its second trailer. The film explores the aftermath of the A-bomb and is set to premiere in July. The timing of the trailer's release coincides perfectly with the godfather of AI Geoffery Hinton, who left Google to talk freely about the risks of AI – “A part of him now regrets his life’s work.”
When AI experts talk, it is something to ponder upon, but when the so-called critics and experts outside the field, who have not trained a single ML model in their entire lives, start talking, fear-mongering ensues, and research advancements get restricted. Unfortunately, we can expect Oppenheimer's analogy, to frame the conversation about AI for some time to come. For instance, Warren Buffett recently compared AI to an ‘Atom Bomb.’
