Unless you’re living under a rock, you have surely heard about big tech giants like Meta, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon have collectively laid off close to 50,000 employees. Of course, these pink slips come with harrowing consequences for the affected employees, but also for the companies themselves in the form of hefty severance packages.

For instance, Google has announced a severance package starting with 16 weeks' salary and two weeks for every additional year at Google. In addition, the company also accelerated 16 weeks of Google Stock Units (GSU) vesting. Google's chief said the company would also be paying off a 2022 bonus and the remaining vacation time.
