While OpenAI navigated the turbulence, its competitors were busy pitching businesses to new customers and recruiting new people. Interestingly, both the customers and employees belonged to OpenAI.
According to reports,more than 100 OpenAI customerswere in talks with companies likeAnthropic, Cohere, Google, Amazonand others. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, went a step ahead with an open offer that said: “Salesforce will match any OpenAI researcher who has tendered their resignation full cash & equity OTE to immediately join our Salesforce Einstein Trusted AI research team under Silvio Savarese.”
Expecting a huge influx of customers, competitors were also putting out new updates for users. Early this week, Anthropic launched Claude 2.1, featuring an impressive 200K context length. This version surpasses OpenAI's GPT-4 Turbo, which offers 128K context, demonstrating notable improvements in reducing model hallucination rates and system prompts. Additionally, a new beta feature was introduced too.
