Something exciting is brewing at DeepMind besides Gemini — a reverse brain drain. A few months ago, the Google AI subsidiary witnessed an exodus of talent to rival OpenAI. Now, it’s their turn to reclaim a few heads from the latter.

A German media platform, BR24, revealed that some of the key employees from OpenAI have already resigned and signed fresh contracts with Google. Others are likely to follow suit in the coming days.

It seems, after all, that the Sam Altman spell is breaking since employees are reportedly deserting the company because of him. Rumour has it that some OpenAI staff say that Altman has a ‘superficial understanding of many topics and hardly cares about day-to-day business’. Besides, the company’s vision seems to be stuck at ChatGPT and is likely to remain there for some time now.
