Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg is the epic cage fight the world is waiting for. Beyond the war of words on Twitter, there’s no other sign of a real duel between the duo apart from the tech arena. However, far away from verbal flexing, Zuckerberg has put some real challenges to Musk — the rumoured P92 project has taken full shape. It's called Instagram Threads and is scheduled to be launched on July 6, 2023.
With this new Meta platform, text-based social media is bound to become a hot space, along with Mastodon and Bluesky.
On the outside, it looks like Zuck is set to launch a Twitter rival, but it goes much deeper than that. It’s about data — currently, the most valuable resource in the world and a key to RLHF-based LLMs.
At a time when Twitter and Reddit have restricted the free scraping of data for LLM training, Zuck seems to be building the platform from the ground up to build the database. However, there’s still uncertainty about how he plans to use the platform data.
