The Paris-based AI startup, which made quite a buzz for raising the highest seed funding ever, just released a 7 billion model that has outperformed Llama 2 13B on all benchmarks and Llama 1 34B on several benchmarks. The release was unlike any other, and Mistral AI definitely knows how to throw a party, making AI better, as well as fun.
A few days before releasing the open-source model on GitHub, Mistral AI decided to post the magnet link on X, promoting the true essence of open source and making it fun at the same time, “cutting out the middleman,” said Eric Hallahan, an indie developer. Many even lauded its release approach, calling it a true open-source champion.
