Kubernetes Failing You?

Kubernetes rose to fame for managing scalable, cloud-based microservices, but AI/ML workloads have exposed its limitations. Gitpod, for instance, recently ditched it for its in-house tool, Flex, citing challenges like complexity, resource inefficiency, and a lack of fit for unpredictable development environments. “Managing Kubernetes at scale is complex,” noted Gitpod’s co-founder in a candid blog post.

Many other companies are following suit. ThreeKit’s Ben Houston moved to Google Cloud Run for its cost efficiency and simplicity, leaving Kubernetes due to its high DevOps overhead and sluggish autoscaling. A Hacker News developer summed it up: “Kubernetes is glorious when used appropriately, but its complexity often outweighs its benefits.”
