After NVIDIA and AMD, arch-rival Intel is all set to host its event ‘AI Everywhere’ on December 14, and speculations are rife surrounding the “big announcements” that may be dropped to launch challenger products against the former two.
The first in line is the expected launch of the Gaudi3 AI accelerator chip, a 5nm chip which would perform twice as fast as Gaudi2. It’s expected the new accelerator will come with a major boost in performance. They offer 4x BFloat16 capabilities, double the compute power, 1.5x network bandwidth, and 1.5x HBM capacity (144GB vs. 96GB). The next generation (Falcon Shores) will arrive in 2025, combining Gaudi's AI prowess with the power of Intel GPUs in a single package.
