Indian IT’s Got 99 Problems, and GenAI is All of Them
Software engineering roles are changing quicker than anyone ever imagined. Thanks to AI tools like Cursor and Claude, software engineers are worried about losing their jobs more than ever before. Contrary to the popular belief that AI would take over mundane jobs, it seems to be coming for the creamy layer first.
At the same time, Indian IT jobs, the ones that involve maintenance, testing, and providing services, are said to be safe for now.
Indian IT giants such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCLTech, and others, which are still testing the waters with generative AI, could be on the brink of an emergency since spending on their services would seem redundant. This is because just about anyone would be able to build front-end, web, and other applications with the help of AI tools, with a minimal amount of coding.
