GitHub Copilot is bleeding. According to a recent report by The Wall Street Journal, GitHub lost over $20 per month per user early this year. For some users, the cost stood as high as $80 a month. This easily translates into millions of dollars for over a million users of Copilot.
However, Microsoft refuted the claims made in the report. Microsoft’s VP of product Mario Rodriguez stated that GitHub Copilot is thriving and generating revenue at an annual rate of $100 million.
In its Q1 earnings call, released last month, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that Copilot’s customer base has increased by 40% in the September quarter.
