Last week, AI evangelist Andrew Ng announced a new and updated machine learning specialisation course , created in collaboration with Stanford Online and DeepLearning.ai, and slated for release in June 2022.

On the 10th anniversary of Coursera, Ng said , ever since the company started with his ML course in 2012, around 5 million people have enrolled for the course. As per Stanford’s AI Index Report , India (2.83 times the global average) has the highest relative AI skill penetration rate (based on the data from 2015-20), followed by the US, China and Germany. We have interviewed hundreds of hackathons winners , and more than half of them have said Andrew Ng's course has been the turning point in both their lives & careers. Inarguably, MOOCs have fed the upskilling frenzy of Indian youth. To that end, last week saw a few announcements in the tech education space; here’s the run-down:

The Indian Statistical Institute collaborated with Coursera to launch a one-year PG diploma in applied statistics . Applications for the August 2022 cohort are expected to open soon.

Jio Institute launched a one-year PG course in AI, data science and digital media and marketing communications. Last date to apply is May 20, 2022 .

SAP Labs India and IIM Bangalore launched the AI for Managers programme – an initiative to make AI accessible to the managerial level candidates.

In related news, Praxis has topped the best data science programmes in India survey conducted by AIM. The company claimed 100 percent placement for the January (Spring) 2021 batch.
