And other top AI stories of the week
History of coding will tell us that it has evolved over the years. Whether it's from writing sentences, to mathematics or even playing a computer game, coding has always been around. Here's an in-depth look at the next-big programming languages you have never heard of.
At Analytics India Magazine, we have been experimenting with some of the latest AI tools and platforms. As you can see, this newsletter's banner and the intro have been generated using AI.Â
It has been designed using a text-to-image generation tool Midjourney (an alternative to OpenAI's DALL-E 2 ). The intro was generated using copy.ai – an AI copywriting tool powered by OpenAI's GPT-3.Â
That being said, a lot more is happening in the creative world. Social media platforms are being flooded with AI artworks made using Midjourney, DALL-E 2, and DALL-E Mini (now Craiyon ), and now Meta AI has also joined the wagon.Â
Last week, Midjourney officially moved its platform to open-beta , and made it available for all. Here's the link: https://discord.com/invite/midjourney Â
Here's what we tried using Midjourney. The result has been phenomenal!

OpenAI's DALL-E, on the other hand, which is giving access in a phased manner. Currently, it has given access to 1 lakh users and plans to give access to 1 million users soon. Click here to join the waitlist.Â
Food for thought: There seems to be a new pattern emerging in the world of design and visualisation. So, what 'coding' is for developers, soon 'prompts' will become a thing for graphic designers, giving rise to a new breed of AI artists and graphic designers.Â
But, Meta seems to be doing things differently.Â
Mark Zukerberg recently announced the launch of Make-A-Scene, an AI platform that uses text and sketches to guide AI image generation. Currently, as part of the research and development work, the company is giving access to only well-known AI artists.Â
One of the AI artists, Scott Eaton , said that 'Make-A-Scene' provides a level of control that's been missing in other SOTA generative AI systems. "Text prompting alone is constrained, often like wandering in the dark. Being able to control the composition is a powerful extension for artists and designers," he added.Â

However, there seem to be a few setbacks. Read: Where is 'I' in 'AI' anymore?

The Misguided Perception of Big Tech Bulldozing SMBs
Many tech giants often claim that they give startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) what they essentially need, like instant access to vast markets, cheap and reliable infrastructure, efficient ads and more. Notwithstanding these benefits, they also get in the way of SMEs' success in many ways. The big firms sometimes acquire the small ones to root out the competition.Â
Does that mean small businesses can never realise their potential for success? Or that they are doomed to be perpetual losers in want of resources? This article has answers to all these questions and more.Â

Language Models Show Human-Like Content Effects On Reasoning
Deepmind and Stanford University researchers recently trained the large language models (with 7 or 70 billion parameters) across three logical reasoning tasks – natural language inference, judging the logical validity of syllogisms, and the Wason selection task, and found that it reflected many of the same patterns observed in humans across these tasks.
